A taste of things to come

It could hardly have been a worse 6 months to miss. So much to summarize.
Here’s what I plan to talk about over the next while.

Direct influences on the Metalstamping industry

  • Raw material pricing
  • Raw material availability
  • Lowered demand
  • The changing face of labor

Larger economic indirect influences

  • The bailout: If you’re in the automotive supply chain, what’s it all mean?
  • The bailout: If you’re not, what does that mean?
  • Recession/depression/inflation?

  1. Hello Michael,

Sounds great, looking forward to your views and insights into the stamping industry!

One question I have is whether you plan on discussing the impact of safety issues such as the CSA Z142-02 in Canada and the ANSI B11.2 & B11.2 in the US?

    Cheers

    Jeff

  2. Hi Jeff:

No, I hadn’t considered discussing it. At least not in my quick review of the last 6 months activities. The original requirement was 2002, the new one isn’t out yet.

I do have a small amount of first-hand knowledge in this area, but from a peek at your web site, you likely know more about that area than I do.

In any case, the immediate answer is no, not in the next week or two while I’m doing the 6 month review. After that, maybe. And maybe you can contribute to our collective knowledge.
